what is CORE?
CORE is about equity.
We know that not every student starts from the same place in life. No family starts from the same place. CORE meets Scholars and their families where they are, to help find their individual path for success.
In conjunction with each school, our curriculum is designed to help foster social-emotional growth, enrichment and two-generational success. Why the 2-Gen model? We know that economic mobility requires a whole-family approach.
Our model takes time, but it is proven and the long-term results speak for themselves:
- • 100% graduation rate for CORE scholars for the last seven years.
- • Scholarships.
- • Job opportunities for Scholars AND family members.

What we've learned:
CORE knows that under-resourced children can achieve a high level of success when provided with sufficient tools and opportunities. Our collective impact model improves academic, social and emotional development of under-resourced children, and our programming helps mitigate economic and educational inequities in our community. When given the tools and opportunities they need, under-resourced families can build strong support networks and invest time in continuing education which leads to better outcomes.

CORE believes in the power of data to inform our work, ensuring that our organization is moving the needle in the right direction when it comes to poverty, equity and education. What is theTheory of Change?
Essentially it provides an illustration of how and why a desired change can be expected to happen. In this Theory of Change model you can see how our stakeholders, inputs, and outputs lead to meaningful outcomes that grow from our work to educate, enrich, and empower CORE Scholars and families.

Starting with the transition between elementary and middle school, then continuing through to the transition between high school graduation and young adulthood; our process is designed to support Scholars when they need us most. Each milestone paves a pathway toward choice filled lives.

CORE adheres to the pioneering work of the Aspen Institute by recognizing the need to provide services and opportunities for children and the adults in their lives in the following areas:
CORE is one of only two organizations in Southern Nevada to have formally adopted this whole family approach; the other serves children of color exclusively.
We believe in equity for all.
CORE defines equity as each of us getting what we need to survive and succeed – access to opportunity, networks, resources, and support – based on where we are and where we want to go. Equity is the key that allows each of us to unlock our full potential.
We commit to affirming and celebrating racial, ethnic, gender, age, class, spiritual, national, regional, and personal identities within our organization and in the communities that we work with as a way to achieve equity. We build relationships with everyone in a way that empowers their voice, honors their values, and celebrates their strengths.

We are accountable for upholding this belief in how we practice our values, and ensuring that it is reflected throughout CORE’s staff and board, and our operations and governance.
